The African Quality Assurance Network (AfriQAN) wishes to inform all its esteemed members and other Quality Assurance stakeholders in Africa that the following three opportunities exist in 2020 for deepening higher education quality assurance culture and promoting collaboration/networking on the continent.

1. AfriQAN Staff Exchange Programme: This activity seeks to empower quality assurance staff of emerging quality assurance agencies on the continent with the skills and knowledge needed to run their outfits by spending time with more established regulatory bodies. The Network will be ready to sponsor one or two (maximum) staff of a new Quality Assurance Agency to spend one week in a more established Quality Assurance Agency in Africa for skills enhancement.
2. Peer Review: In other to assure quality and promote international competitiveness on quality assurance, national quality assurance agencies will be peer reviewed voluntarily by internationally renowned quality assurance experts. The results will be published for the benefit of other agencies. As a way of documenting and improving upon Africa’s good practices in Quality Assurance, AfriQAN wants to undertake a peer review of two of the advanced external quality assurance agencies on the continent in 2020. It is hoped that sharing experiences with other involved in similar functions will help improve the host’s mechanisms and processes for enhanced quality higher education delivery to stakeholders. To this end, the peer review will be done at two national quality assurance agencies by internationally renowned quality assurance experts who have worked in national regulatory agencies in Africa for many years.
3. Institutional Review Support: National regulatory agencies will be supported by AfriQAN in their institutional reviews in 2020. In this respect, those agencies that plan to undergo institutional reviews will be supported by AfriQAN through recruitment and deployment of QA experts (only roundtrip economy tickets will be funded up to a maximum of four experts during the year).

Interested Quality Assurance Agencies/Bodies that want to benefit from the Staff Exchange Programme, or be peer-reviewed, or undertake institutional reviews should submit their requests electronically to the AfriQAN Coordinator (jcmba@aau.org) latest by close of business on Tuesday, 31st March 2020.
